These terms set out the basis on which DE Electrical Contractors — a trading name of DEH Properties Ltd, registered in England — provides electrical services to homeowners, landlords and businesses. By accepting a quote from us in writing, you accept these terms.
1. Quotes and pricing
All prices are provided in writing following a survey and are valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise. Quotes are fixed for the scope described; if the scope changes after work starts (for example, additional circuits or unforeseen remedial work) the variation will be quoted in writing before proceeding.
2. Deposits and payment
For jobs over £1,000, a deposit may be requested to cover materials. The balance is payable on completion of the works and issue of the certificate, unless otherwise agreed in writing. Payment terms are 7 days from invoice. Late payments may incur statutory interest under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 where applicable.
3. Scope, standards and certification
All work is designed, installed and tested to BS 7671 (18th Edition, Amendment 2). Notifiable work is registered with your local building control under the NICEIC Competent Persons scheme, and the appropriate certificate (EIC, MEIWC or EICR) is issued on completion.
4. Access and site conditions
You are responsible for providing safe and reasonable access to the property and to the areas requiring work. Where dust, lifting of floor coverings, or minor plaster damage is unavoidable we will discuss and agree the approach before starting. Making-good of decorative finishes (painting, wallpapering) is not included unless expressly quoted.
5. Guarantees
Our workmanship is guaranteed — if you're not happy with anything we've installed, we come back and put it right. Fittings, cables and consumer units are covered by the relevant manufacturer's warranty, which we pass through to you in full. Guarantees do not cover damage caused by third-party alterations, misuse, or the failure of items not supplied by us.
6. Emergency call-outs
Emergency call-outs outside our normal hours (Mon–Sat 08:00–17:00) are charged at our published emergency rate, agreed with you before attendance. If the situation can safely wait until standard hours we'll tell you honestly.
7. Cancellation
Booked work can be rescheduled or cancelled free of charge with at least 48 hours' notice. Cancellations within 48 hours may be chargeable if materials have been ordered specifically for the job.
8. Insurance and liability
We carry £10,000,000 public liability insurance. Our liability for any loss or damage arising from our work is limited to the value of that insurance. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for any liability that cannot be excluded by law.
9. Complaints
If you're not happy with any part of the work, please tell us at once. Contact us on 07886 780653 or de.electrical@icloud.com. Where we cannot resolve the complaint directly, NICEIC operates a free, independent complaints service for consumers.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
